FAQs

What should I expect when I call?

Your journey with us begins from the moment we speak with you during your free 15-minute consultation. This phone call will allow you to learn more about our facility and see if we are a good match for you. You will be speaking directly with one of our trained clinicians to help determine the next steps.

Does my child need an evaluation?

Our clinicians are trained to determine if a screening or a comprehensive evaluation is the best place to start.

Sometimes, parents would like to know if their child is simply on track. Screenings can provide the answers you are looking for to determine if your child is developing at a rate similar to their peers or if they may need some extra support.

If your child has not previously received services, or if you are looking for a more in-depth analysis of your child’s skills, starting with an evaluation could be the right first step for you. Our clinicians are able to assess a wide range of skills within the areas of speech sound production, understanding and expression of language, social cognitive skills, oral reading and comprehension, and written expression.

What happens after the evaluation?

Your child’s clinician will sit down with you, via a phone call or in person, to discuss the findings of the initial evaluation. They will work with you to decide how often to provide therapy as well as to determine if individual, group therapy, or a combination of services is best for your child and your family’s life. At Grow with Words, we have several options for service delivery, and we can work with you on creating a scheduling plan that works alongside your other activities and commitments.

Our speech language pathology services vary in time and setting by your child’s individual needs, and their intervention will be tailored to the environment in which they can Grow the best!

Is Teletherapy an option for my child?

Teletherapy is a great option for many families for a variety of reasons. Research has shown that individuals receiving teletherapy services are able to make similar levels of progress as clients who received services through other modalities. Our clinicians are experienced in delivering services in this manner, and you can expect the same high quality standards in our teletherapy services that you would get if you were visiting us at the clinic.

Do you use specific programs?

Grow with Words has a variety of research-based programs that may be beneficial for your child. If you have an inquiry about a specific program, feel free to give us a call! No matter what program or approach we use, all of our sessions are aimed to be child-centered and naturalistic in delivery. Our sessions are fun and engaging, and your child might not even realize they are learning!
